Dr. Yozua Makes

Dr. Yozua Makes is the Founder and Managing Partner of Makes & Partners, a member of WPG, and one of Indonesia's leading corporate lawyers. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate law, capital markets, corporate finance, project finance, foreign investments, and a broad range of complex cross‑border commercial transactions. He advises investors and domestic and foreign‑owned companies on cross‑border project developments, providing strategy and assistance in negotiating and drafting transactional, corporate, and commercial agreements across various industries and sectors.

He has been directly appointed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo as one of five highly distinguished members of the supervisory board of the Indonesian Investment Authority (LPI), the country's first sovereign wealth fund. He has also been appointed as a member of the supervisory board of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). He is a distinguished associate professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia and the University of Pelita Harapan, and serves as CEO of Plataran Indonesia, a luxury hospitality group. He is recognised by Chambers Asia‑Pacific as a "pre‑eminent lawyer" with "the gravitas, knowledge and network to drive commercial outcomes" and by clients as "one of the best lawyers in Indonesia."

He holds a Ph.D from the University of Indonesia, an LL.M from the University of California, an M.M from the Asian Institute of Management, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Indonesian Bar and a registered Capital Market Lawyer (HKHPM) with the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
