Ray Chiang

Ray Chiang is a Senior Partner in the Corporate practice group at Dentons Rodyk in Singapore, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, and start-ups. He co-heads the Venture Tech & Emerging Growth Companies practice group and represents both investors (venture capital funds and corporate venture capital arms) as well as start-ups and founders. He is active in local and cross-border venture capital deals across many sectors, including deep tech, AI, ESG, and other impact investments.

As a Singapore-India relationship partner, he represents Indian investors, family offices, and a broad range of Indian companies across multiple sectors, including several unicorns. He also co-heads the Employment practice group, advising on industrial relations, restraint of trade, retrenchments, dismissals, investigations, workplace fairness, incentives, and immigration issues. He has acted as an expert witness on Singapore immigration issues in a foreign court.

He has advised on significant transactions including Seatown Capital, Pavilion Capital and EDBI in a S$235 million funding round in Cityneon; Panasonic Corporation on the sale of its Southeast-Asian semiconductor chip assembly plants to UTAC Group for S$116.5 million and on its joint venture with Skyworks Solutions; Maybank on its US$1.5 billion share acquisition in PT Bank Internasional Indonesia; and Flipkart Limited from inception through multiple investment rounds to its majority sale to Walmart, which won multiple Deal of the Year awards. He has also advised on venture capital investments for Eurazeo, Robert Bosch, Wavemaker Partners, Rize, NextBillion.ai, Cloudphysician, and numerous other startups and investors.

He holds an LL.B (Hons) from the National University of Singapore (2006). He is recognized by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific for Start-up and Venture Capital and Labour and Employment, by IFLR1000 for M&A and Private Equity, and by India Business Law Journal on The International A-List. He is a member of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law.
