Sunil Rai

Sunil Rai is a Senior Partner and Head of Dentons Rodyk's Corporate practice department. He is also Co-Head of the firm's Venture Tech & Emerging Growth Companies and Private Equity practice groups, and serves as the Singapore-India relationship partner.

He concentrates his practice in corporate and transactional matters encompassing investments and exits, domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, licensing, corporate governance, restructuring, and employment law. He has a particular focus on venture capital and private equity transactions, advising institutional investors, family offices, venture capital funds and private equity investors on investments and divestments, and start-ups and early-stage entities on fund-raising from Seed to Series D and beyond across various verticals including FinTech, MedTech, PropTech and AI. Notable transactions include advising AG Active Fund I on a US$5 million Series A investment in Sarisuki, advising Kickstart Ventures on a US$2.15 million seed fundraising round in Ruralnet, advising Maven Capital Partners on a £2.5 million equity investment in Turnkey Group, and advising Luno Pte Ltd on the buyout by Digital Currency Group.

He holds an LL.B (2nd Class Hons, Upper Division) from the National University of Singapore and an MBA (Global) from the University of Manchester.

He is recognised by Chambers Asia Pacific as a Leading Individual for Startups & Emerging Companies, by The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific as a Leading Individual for Start-Up and Venture Capital, and in the Asia Business Law Journal's A‑List of Singapore's Top 100 Lawyers. He is an Accredited Mediator and has been appointed as a Master Mediator under the Community Mediation Centres Act.
