Sathiaseelan Jagateesan

Sathiaseelan Jagateesan is a Partner and Co‑Head of the Construction & Engineering Practice at Allen & Gledhill LLP, specialising in Construction Law. His practice encompasses a wide range of contentious and non‑contentious work in building, construction, engineering, and infrastructure projects. He is a board member of the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), a statutory board under the Ministry of National Development in Singapore.

He regularly appears as counsel for public and private sector clients in complex and large‑scale domestic and international arbitration, litigation, adjudication, and mediation concerning the built environment. On the non‑contentious side, he advises on tender and project documentation under various procurement models for domestic and regional projects. He is recognised as a Leading Individual in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and ranked in Band 1 in Chambers Asia‑Pacific for Construction, where he is described as “highly sought after,” “approachable, thorough, solution‑orientated,” and as having an “excellent understanding of market practices in the construction industry.” He is also recognised as a Global Leader and National Leader for Construction by Who's Who Legal.

He holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2003. He is accredited by the Singapore Academy of Law as a Senior Accredited Specialist in Building and Construction Law, and by the Singapore Mediation Centre as a Principal Mediator. He has been appointed as arbitrator in ICC, SIAC, and ad hoc international and domestic arbitrations, and serves as adjunct faculty at the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
