Cheryl Chong

Cheryl Chong is a Partner in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department at Allen & Gledhill, specialising in dispute resolution, white collar and investigations, and employment law. She represents clients before all levels of the Singapore courts and arbitral tribunals in shareholder and investment disputes, professional liability claims, defamation, criminal prosecutions, and employment disputes, with particular expertise in fraud, internal investigations, employee misconduct, anti‑money laundering, sanctions, insider trading, and corruption.

Cheryl has advised SPH Media's Audit and Risk Committee in an internal review and investigation into the alleged overstatement of circulation data; acted for SembCorp in interpleader proceedings and related recovery claims arising from the Hin Leong Trading collapse; and advised financial institutions, multinational companies, and C‑suites in investigations under the Securities and Futures Act, Penal Code, Official Secrets Act, Prevention of Corruption Act, and Companies Act. She also successfully defended a public listed company and its subsidiary against minority oppression and conspiracy proceedings before the Singapore High Court. In 2021, she was appointed as Amicus Curiae before the High Court to assist in developing a sentencing framework under the Goods and Services Tax Act.

Cheryl holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons) from the National University of Singapore, where she was awarded the Justice A V Winslow Prize for Banking Law and was the top student in Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations. She is a regular volunteer with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme and has been appointed as a member of the Criminal Legal Assistance Steering Committee (2024‑2026). She also advises on non‑contentious matters including drafting employment contracts and policies and conducting compliance trainings.
