Chia Voon Jiet

Chia Voon Jiet is a Director in Drew & Napier's Dispute Resolution practice and Co-Head of Investigations, focusing on commercial litigation, international arbitration, and regulatory and corporate fraud investigations.

He has over two decades of experience representing multinational corporations, financial institutions, statutory boards and individuals at all levels of the Singapore Court, including as lead counsel in the High Court, the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) and the Court of Appeal. He has acted as both counsel and arbitrator in international arbitrations and is on the SIAC and JCAA panels of arbitrators. Notable matters include successfully representing the liquidators in a US$3.5 billion corporate fraud litigation against the directors of one of the world's largest oil trading companies; successfully defending a Singapore-listed company in a cross-border joint venture dispute before the SICC; and acting in the first competition appeal on abuse of dominance in Singapore before the Competition Appeal Board.

He holds an LL.B. (Hons) with First Class Honours from the National University of Singapore (2002) and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School (2010). He was admitted to the Singapore Bar in May 2003.

He is recognised by Asia Pacific Legal 500 for dispute resolution, where he is described as "very knowledgeable" and "quick and makes the effort to understand clients' business structures and objectives", and by Who's Who Legal for investigations as an "intelligent and shrewd practitioner".
