Lim Mingguan

Lim Mingguan is a Director in the Dispute Resolution practice group at Drew & Napier, handling a broad spectrum of high-stakes and complex disputes. He has active commercial litigation and international arbitration practices across all major institutions, including the SIAC, ICC and LCIA, and appears before all levels of the Supreme Court, with particular expertise in the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC).

He regularly represents and advises clients in the financial services industry, as well as tech companies, Web3 organisations, venture capital funds and start-ups, including in cryptocurrency-related disputes. Notable matters include acting for the China Country Head of Macquarie Bank in the SICC concerning a commodity swap transaction arising from the ISDA Master Agreement (Macquarie Bank Limited v Graceland Industry Ltd); acting for a decentralised web3 foundation in a SIAC arbitration for the recovery of cryptocurrencies totaling more than US$40 million; successfully defending a shareholder of a start-up against a winding-up application, with the High Court making determinations on novel points of law on the standing of shareholders (Atlas Equifin Private Limited v Electronic Cash and Payment Solutions (S) Pte Ltd); and successfully acting for a group backed by sovereign wealth funds against an $83 million emergency SIAC arbitration involving novel issues on jurisdiction over non-signatories.

Lim Mingguan holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in May 2010.

He was awarded a Singapore Academy of Law Post-Qualification Overseas Attachment in 2019 and was placed with Essex Court Chambers in London. He is a member of the Law Society's Advocacy Committee and a trainer for the advocacy module for the Singapore Bar Exams. He is described in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific as "detail oriented, well rounded, systematic" and praised for his "innate ability to grasp complex concepts".
