Daniel Chen

Daniel Chen is a Partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution department at Lee & Lee in Singapore. His practice focuses on Real Estate Law, specifically strata law and management corporation disputes.

Daniel's expertise includes civil litigation, criminal litigation, strata law (Management Corporation "MCST") disputes, land law disputes, property law disputes and defamation claims.

He has acted in numerous landmark strata title disputes, including the first cases to deal with the application of the "2% proxy rule" since its coming into force on 1 February 2019, the first reported decision in Singapore for an order under Section 114 of the Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act 2004 for access into a strata lot, and cases involving mandatory injunctions for the removal of unauthorised works to common property.

His case highlights include acting for a Management Corporation which successfully appealed to the High Court in HC/RAS 5/2026 against a decision of the Magistrates' Court in Edmund Motor Pte. Ltd. v Management Corporation Strata Title No. 3564 and another [2026] SGMC 18, and acting for a Management Corporation which successfully applied to the Strata Titles Board for an order under Section 114 of the BMSMA in The MCST Plan No. 2005 v Tan Wei Loong and another [2024] SGSTB, which was upheld on appeal in Tan Wei Loong v The MCST Plan No. 2005 HC/TA 5/2024.

Daniel graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2013. He joined Lee & Lee as a trainee in 2014, was called to the bar in August 2014, and was made a Partner of the firm in January 2020. He is a member of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law.
