Gerald Tay

Gerald Tay is a Director in the Dispute Resolution practice group at Drew & Napier, focusing on civil litigation and international arbitration. He handles a variety of matters relating to director and shareholder disputes, contractual and tortious claims, competition law, infrastructure projects, energy ventures, trusts, banking and finance, and regulatory actions.

He has acted for governments, multinational corporations, financial institutions and high-net-worth individuals at all levels of the Singapore Courts and in international arbitration. Notable matters include successfully acting in a trust dispute before the Singapore High Court involving oil and gas assets worth more than US$115 million; successfully acting for various major international banks to resist allegations of unauthorised trading in separate lawsuits with claims exceeding US$7 million; acting in an arbitration under UNCITRAL rules involving claims worth more than US$135 million in relation to the construction of an Ultra Mega Power Project in India; and successfully acting for a major Philippines water and wastewater services provider in resisting a Philippine government application to set aside an arbitral award worth more than US$62 million.

Gerald holds a B.A. (Hons) from the University of Oxford (2013) and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2015.

He tutors students in the Preparatory Course leading to Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations.
