Gilbert Leong

Gilbert Leong is a Senior Partner and Head of Dentons Rodyk's Intellectual Property and Technology practice department, specialising in Intellectual Property Law. He is also Co-Head of the Patents, Technology, Media & Telecommunications, Licensing, Data Privacy & Protection and Cybersecurity practices.

Gilbert has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting commercial agreements relating to distribution, procurement, manufacturing, licensing, and IP acquisition. His IP litigation practice includes copyright (software) suits, patent infringements, and obtaining and executing search and seizure warrants. He has prosecuted parties under a fiat from the Attorney General for offences under both the Trade Marks Act and Copyright Act. He has advised on high-impact cyber breach incidents, including co-leading counsel for one of the parties in proceedings of the Committee of Inquiry into Singapore's highest profile cyber breach.

Gilbert holds an LL.M. (Merit) from University College London (1991) and an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore (1989). He also holds a Certificate in Computer Programming and Information Processing from the City & Guilds of London Institute.

He is consistently recognised as a leading lawyer by Chambers Asia-Pacific, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Best Lawyers and Who's Who Legal. He has been named Lawyer of the Year for Information Technology Law by Best Lawyers in Singapore (2024) and received the Data Privacy and Protection Lawyer of the Year award at the Asian Legal Business SEA Law Awards (2022). He is a Technology, Data and Privacy Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific (2026).
