Tan Tee Jim, S.C.

Tan Tee Jim, SC is a Senior Partner and Head of the Intellectual Property department at Lee & Lee in Singapore. His practice focuses on Intellectual Property Law, as well as competition law, commercial litigation and arbitration.

Tee Jim was called to the Singapore Bar in 1980, after graduating from the University of Singapore in 1979, and also holds an LLM from the University of London. In 1999, he was appointed a Senior Counsel by the Supreme Court of Singapore, an elite group of advocates recognised for their advocacy skills, professional integrity and knowledge in the law.

He has been involved in numerous court cases, including cases which have become landmarks in intellectual property law and competition law. He has written extensively on intellectual property law, and is the General Editor of "Halsbury's Laws of Singapore (Intellectual Property)" and the author of "Law of Trade Marks in Singapore" (Sweet & Maxwell, 4th ed., 2021), which has been regularly cited by the courts.

Tee Jim is currently an IP Adjudicator at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, as well as a member of the Competition Appeal Board and the Data Protection Appeal Panel. He has served as Deputy President of the Copyright Tribunal and as an arbitrator for the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the World Intellectual Property Organisation and the Singapore Domain Name Dispute Resolution Panel. He is a founder and Past President of the Association of Singapore Patent Agents, a past Vice-President of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association and a founding Council member of the ASEAN Intellectual Property Association.

He holds an LLB (Hons) and an LLM, and has been regularly cited as a leading intellectual property lawyer in Singapore and Asia by publications including The Asia Pacific Legal 500, Global Counsel 3000 and AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers. In a 2024 survey conducted by The Straits Times among clients and peers, he was named one of 25 "top-rated" lawyers in Singapore.
