Joel CHNG

Joel Chng is a Partner in the Restructuring & Insolvency and Special Situations Advisory Practices at WongPartnership, and is concurrently the Chief Representative of the firm's Shanghai Representative Office. He specialises in restructuring and insolvency, with a focus on litigation, arbitration, banking and commercial transactions, corporate and shareholder disputes, and insolvency proceedings. He acts for corporate debtors, turnaround professionals, and investors in complex restructuring and insolvency matters.

He was placed on the Supreme Court's Young Amicus Curiae 2013 list and was appointed amicus curiae in landmark criminal cases. He is a Fellow of IPAS, a member of the Young Insolvency Practitioners Committee 2025 and the Law Society of Singapore's Insolvency Practice Committee 2025. He is also a trial‑advocacy facilitator for the Singapore Bar Examinations and a tutor for the trial advocacy module at the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law. He has contributed to the 2025 edition of Singapore Civil Procedure and volunteers with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme.

Joel holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore on the overall Dean's List, where he was awarded the Peter English Memorial Prize for the best student in Criminal Law and the Law Society Book Prize. He is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
