LAM Chung Nian

Lam Chung Nian is the Head of the Intellectual Property, Technology & Data Group at WongPartnership, specialising in Intellectual Property Law. He handles both contentious and non‑contentious matters in intellectual property, media, information technology, data protection, and telecommunications law, advising multinational companies, listed corporations, and government regulators on regulatory, transactional, enforcement, and advisory projects.

His IP experience covers franchising, licensing, securitisation, due diligence, acquisitions and divestments. He acts for international rights protection agencies, major music and movie industry content producers, collecting societies, and television networks. His IT experience covers software licensing, outsourcing, systems development, maintenance, and service level agreements, having worked on projects for clients in aviation, banking, financial services, public transport, and healthcare. He also handles personal data protection matters for some of Singapore's largest banks, insurers, telecommunications, transport, media, hospitality, healthcare, and property companies.

Lam Chung Nian is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), an IP Adjudicator before IPOS, a member of the SIAC Panel of Arbitrators for Intellectual Property Disputes, and a member of the WIPO Panel of Film and Media Mediators, Arbitrators and Experts. He is Immediate Past President of the Asian Patent Attorney Association (Singapore Chapter), a member of the International Trademark Association, and a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Society of Singapore. He has also been appointed to the Board of Trustees of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the board of Assurity Trusted Solutions Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of GovTech. He is a Senior Accredited Specialist (Data & Digital Economy) by the Singapore Academy of Law, and holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the National University of Singapore. He is admitted to the Singapore Bar and the Roll of Solicitors of England & Wales, and is a registered patent agent in Singapore.
