TAN Chee Meng, Senior Counsel

Tan Chee Meng, Senior Counsel, is the Deputy Chairman of WongPartnership and specialises in dispute resolution, with a particular focus on general civil litigation, construction and engineering dispute resolution, criminal law, insurance, professional indemnity, and disciplinary proceedings.

Prior to reading law, he was a civil engineer, and he brings extensive experience as an arbitrator, mediator, and counsel in construction law. He is a member of numerous arbitration panels in Singapore and overseas, an accredited adjudicator under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act, and has been reappointed as a member of the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) Specialist Mediator Panel. He is also the Alternate Chairperson of the Criminal Law Advisory Committee and sits on the Panel of Presidents for Law Society's Disciplinary Tribunal.

He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2006 and was the first Specialist Judge appointed in Singapore in 2006 under a scheme where senior lawyers were invited to lend their expertise to the State Courts. He also serves as a Board member of Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited and has previously served on the boards of the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Jurong Town Corporation, and Singapore Power Ltd.

Tan Chee Meng holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the National University of Singapore, and a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge. He is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
