Terence Tan

Terence Tan is a Director in the Dispute Resolution practice at Drew & Napier, focusing on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration. His practice encompasses shareholder disputes, banking and finance disputes, civil fraud and conspiracy, trust law disputes, and criminal law.

He handles trial and appellate work at all levels, including the General Division of the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Notable matters include successfully arguing an appeal before the Court of Appeal on issues of resulting trusts and ABSD avoidance in Wong Mei Lee Millie v Jake Ngor Shing Rong; successfully defending Citibank in Wang Fumin v Citibank Singapore Ltd against a claim of more than USD10 million involving allegations of fraudulent misrepresentation and negligence in FX and gold trading; acting as lead counsel for a financial advisory firm in resisting professional negligence claims of more than AUD 37 million in Vibrant Group v Tong Chi Ho; successfully representing an accused person on appeal for offences of outrage of modesty in PP v JDA; and securing acquittals for the large majority of charges for a senior civil servant in PP v GDK.

Terence holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore, where he was on the Dean’s List for multiple years and received the Gower Prize as the top student in Company Law. He was awarded the Singapore Academy of Law Post-Qualification Overseas Attachment and was attached with various King's Counsel at Blackstone Chambers in London.

He is an active volunteer with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme, offering pro bono legal representation to the needy.
