Timothy Oen

Timothy Oen is an Associate Director in the Dispute Resolution & Information Technology team at Drew & Napier, practising in commercial litigation and arbitration, information technology and employment law. He regularly assists clients in disputes and dispute avoidance concerning commercial contracts, data protection, employment issues, and technology-related risks.

Notable matters include successfully acting for a distributor of Caterpillar equipment in a dispute over refusal to take delivery (Tractors Singapore Ltd v Pacific Ocean Engineering & Trading Pte Ltd, affirmed on appeal); successfully defending a financial services provider in a dispute involving payment processing services and discharging a freezing injunction (B High House International Pte Ltd v MCDP Phoenix Services Pte Ltd); acting for a Chinese state-owned entity in a UK-seated ICC arbitration in a claim of about US$12 million for unpaid fees under a seismic data acquisition contract; and advising the Singapore subsidiary of a Japanese listed company on a ransomware attack and personal data and cybersecurity issues, with the regulator accepting an undertaking without further penalties.

Timothy holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore (2018). He was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2019 and as a Solicitor in England & Wales in 2023. He has experience working in London as a solicitor with Locke Lord LLP (now Troutman Pepper Locke LLP).
