Aloysius Tan

Aloysius Tan is a Partner at A&O Shearman in Singapore, focusing on Capital Markets Law. He has over 20 years of experience advising on finance and capital markets transactions, with a practice focused on debt and equity capital markets in Singapore and across the Asia-Pacific region.

He has worked in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore and on many high-profile and innovative transactions in the Asia-Pacific region. He has substantial experience advising financial institutions, corporates and trustees on a broad range of capital market instruments, including CNY-denominated debt products, corporate hybrid instruments, bank regulatory capital, medium term note programmes, sukuks, and equity-linked products including convertible bonds, exchangeable bonds and pre-IPO convertible instruments.

He also advises on bond restructurings and the full range of liability management exercises.

His expertise covers capital markets, debt capital markets, Islamic finance and finance, with industries spanning energy, banks, real estate, financial institutions, private capital, fintech, and sovereign wealth and institutional investors.

He holds an LLB (Second Class Honours, Upper Division) from the National University of Singapore (2002) and a Post Graduate Practical Law Course from the Board of Legal Education, Singapore (2002). He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore in 2003, as a solicitor in England & Wales in 2006, and as a solicitor in the Hong Kong SAR in 2010. He speaks English.
