Cavinder Bull, SC

Cavinder Bull, SC is the Chief Executive Officer of Drew & Napier LLC, with a leading practice in complex litigation and international arbitration. He is also co-head of the firm's Competition Law & Regulatory Practice.

He has appeared as counsel at all levels of the Singapore Courts and in international arbitrations across various countries, and has served as president or member of numerous international arbitration tribunals under the auspices of ICSID, PCA and NAFTA. Notable matters include securing a US$926 million judgment for a former Prime Minister of Georgia against Credit Suisse Trust Limited in the Singapore International Commercial Court; acting for Sharp Corporation in an international arbitration relating to a US$3 billion contractual relationship; representing the Monetary Authority of Singapore in the first civil penalty actions under the Securities and Futures Act; and acting in investor-state arbitrations involving claims against Ukraine, Canada, Kuwait, Iraq, Vietnam, Tanzania, Pakistan and Spain, among others.

He holds a B.A. (Hons) and M.A. from Oxford University, where he won the Bellot Prize for Public International Law, and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School. He is a Barrister of England & Wales, an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore, and an Attorney-at-Law of the State of New York. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2008, one of a handful accorded the honour before the age of 40.

He serves on the Advisory Board of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), is Vice-President of the Court of Arbitration of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and is a former member of the World Bank Sanctions Board.
