CHAN Hock Keng

Chan Hock Keng is a Partner and Co‑Head of the Commercial & Corporate Disputes Practice at WongPartnership, and a Partner in the International Arbitration Practice, specialising in arbitration and mediation, commercial litigation, and cross‑border dispute resolution. He has an active practice as counsel in Court proceedings and international arbitrations, and regularly sits as arbitrator in references conducted in either English or Chinese.

Hock Keng is a Chartered Arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the Court of Arbitration of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. He is also on the panels of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Beijing International Arbitration Centre, Korean Commercial Arbitration Board, Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, Shanghai International Arbitration Centre, Asian International Arbitration Centre, Thailand Arbitration Centre, Japan Commercial Arbitration Association, Borneo International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation, Wuhan Arbitration Commission, and Hainan International Arbitration Court. He is a panel member of the Disciplinary Tribunal appointed by the Chief Justice to hear complaints against lawyers and an Honorary Council Member of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Since 2012, his redacted awards have been published in LexisNexis' Singapore Arbitral Awards.

Hock Keng holds an LL.B. (Hons) with First Class Honours from the University of Bristol, where he graduated top of his class and was awarded the Sweet & Maxwell Law Prize. He is a Barrister‑at‑Law of Middle Temple and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1994, placing fifth in the UK Bar Exams. He clerked for the Chief Justice for a year before entering private practice in 1995, and is also admitted to the Roll of Solicitors of England & Wales.

He has been identified as a leading individual for Arbitration by Chambers Global since 2013, recognised as a "Litigation Star" in the Benchmark Litigation Guide, and featured in Best Lawyers for Litigation, Arbitration and Mediation, and Construction Law. He is ranked by Lexology Index as a National Leader for Arbitration and Commercial Litigation in Southeast Asia.
