Joel QUEK

Joel Quek is a Partner in the Commercial & Corporate Disputes, International Arbitration, Asset Recovery & International Enforcement and Vietnam Practices, specialising in commercial litigation, international arbitration and dispute resolution. He has an active practice before the Singapore Courts and in international arbitrations, often in high‑value and legally significant disputes.

His clients include States, State‑owned enterprises, multinational corporations, and high‑net‑worth individuals across a range of sectors, including investment, finance, commodities, energy, gaming, media, transport, construction and healthcare. He has substantial experience in arbitration‑related court proceedings and an active investment treaty arbitration practice. He is regularly instructed in complex cross‑border disputes and has been involved in some of the most notable commercial and arbitration cases in Singapore.

He is recognised as a Future Leader in the Lexology Index: Arbitration, a Future Star in Benchmark Litigation Asia‑Pacific: International Arbitration, and recognised in The Legal 500 and ALB's Rising Stars Singapore 2025. He is described as "highly intelligent, a first‑rate strategist and an adept communicator". He is co‑Chair of the International Bar Association (IBA) Arb40 Subcommittee and an officer of the IBA Arbitration Committee, and speaks regularly at dispute resolution events in various jurisdictions.

Prior to entering private practice, he served as a Justices' Law Clerk to the Chief Justice and Judges of the Singapore Supreme Court, and undertook a placement with Fountain Court Chambers in London. He holds a First Class Honours LL.B. from University College London and an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, where he is a member of Wolfson College. He is admitted to the Singapore Bar and is a tutor for trial advocacy at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
