Ho Pey Yann

Ho Pey Yann is a Partner in the International Arbitration, International Trade, Litigation, and Maritime & Aviation Practices at Allen & Gledhill LLP, specialising in Arbitration and Mediation. He focuses on international trade and all aspects of “dry” and “wet” shipping work, including disputes relating to marine collisions and casualties, oil pollution, ship repair and engine damage, charterparties, carriage of goods, mortgage enforcement, trade finance, documentary credits, and international sale of goods. He is also experienced in admiralty work, including ship arrests, re‑possession of vessels, and judicial sales.

He has represented multinational clients such as shipowners, charterers, banks, H&M insurers, and P&I Clubs in proceedings before the Singapore courts and in international arbitrations, including SIAC and SCMA. He has acted for a Singapore ship owner in a SCMA arbitration against a North‑African charterer, involving extensive damage to the vessel's main engines and other machinery, and for a European trade finance bank in respect of its USD 80 million exposure following the insolvency of a major trader. He has also acted for an American trading house in an SIAC arbitration relating to quality disputes arising out of a commodity sales contract, and for a Korean trading house in a trilogy of FOSFA arbitrations against a Turkish buyer.

He holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore (2013) and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2014. He is recognised as an Accredited Specialist in Maritime and Shipping Law by the Singapore Academy of Law and has contributed to publications on international arbitration, aviation finance, and maritime law, including the Belt and Road Initiative and the Singapore launch of new methanol bunkering standards.
