Moses Lin

Moses Lin is a Partner and Head of Shipping and Commodities at Shook Lin & Bok LLP, specialising in arbitration and mediation, commercial litigation, and restructuring and insolvency. He advises clients on risk mitigation, commercial litigation, and international arbitration, and has appeared as lead counsel in the State Courts, the High Court, and the Court of Appeal in Singapore, as well as in international arbitrations under SIAC, SCMA, GAFTA, FOSFA, ICC, and LMAA rules.

Moses has acted for HSBC in cross‑border litigation and arbitration actions relating to the recovery of over US$600 million in debts arising from the insolvency of Hin Leong Trading and Ocean Tankers; represented creditors in the insolvency of Agritrade and the restructuring of the Gulf Petrochem group; acted as lead counsel for the Private Trustees in the bankruptcy of Ng Yu Zhi, the alleged mastermind behind a large‑scale Ponzi scheme resulting in losses totalling over S$1 billion; and acted for the judicial managers of Armada (Singapore) Pte Ltd in the adjudication of over US$900 million of claims. His shipping practice includes disputes involving shipbuilding, ship sale and purchase, charterparties, and cargo loss and damage, and he regularly advises on ship sale and purchase agreements and shipbuilding contracts.

Moses holds an LL.B (Hons) from University College London (2006) and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2008. He is an Accredited Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre, an Adjudicator under the SMC ADR Scheme, and a member of the Panel of Mediators of the Law Society Mediation Scheme. He is recognised by Chambers Asia‑Pacific as an Up & Coming Partner in Shipping, a Litigation Star in Shipping by Benchmark Litigation, and recommended in Restructuring and Insolvency and Dispute Resolution by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific.
