Lawyer Profile

Chloé Vialard is a Practice Development Lawyer and a lawyer in the International Arbitration practice at A&O Shearman, based in Singapore. Her practice focuses on Arbitration and Mediation.

Chloé has experience as an associate advising and representing companies and State-owned entities in international arbitrations conducted under the rules of various arbitral institutions, with a focus on Asian and African matters, as well as in advising clients in enforcement and annulment proceedings before French courts. She is an accredited mediator at the Singapore International Mediation Institute. In September 2018, she transferred to the Singapore team after having practised at the Paris office since 2014.

Chloé serves as Practice Development Lawyer for the International Arbitration Group in Asia, to develop collaborations with clients and other local, regional and international organisations. She has notably developed partnerships focusing on the energy transition and on ESG-related topics. She was a member of the firm's energy innovation team supporting clients to integrate emerging low-carbon technologies into their strategies, focusing particularly on hydrogen, CCUS and decarbonisation of energy-intensive production lines. She is a member of the firm's ESG working group.

Her representative matters include acting for an international company in proceedings before the Paris Court of Appeal to seek the annulment of an award rendered in an ICC arbitration; acting for Sonatrach as Respondent in an ICC arbitration in Geneva brought by Saipem SpA and Saipem Contracting Algérie SpA, where over €2.6 billion was at stake; and acting for a European construction company in proceedings before French courts to set aside a partial award rendered by an ICC Arbitral Tribunal on the grounds of lack of independence and impartiality on the part of the Chairman.

Chloé also spearheads various pro bono matters aimed at supporting human rights, women's rights and gender equality. She co-led the team assisting a Singapore-registered non-profit on comparative law research on how online harms are defined by law, and was a core member and co-coordinator of a team advising the Women's Forum for the Economy and Society to prepare public policy proposals to promote women's entrepreneurship in the context of the 2020 G7 Summit. She is one of twelve global Rising Talent Laureates nominated by the Women's Forum in 2023.

She is a French lawyer ('Avocate à la Cour') registered with the Paris Bar and a Foreign practising lawyer with the Law Society of Singapore. She holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the University of Leicester, a Masters in Business Law from Université de Strasbourg and a Masters in Arbitration and International Commercial Law from Université de Versailles St-Quentin-en-Yvelines. She is a SIMI Accredited Mediator and speaks French and English.

She serves as a Member of the Board of Directors and Co-president of Women in Business at the French Chamber of Commerce Singapore, a Member of the 'Paris-Singapore' International Commission of the Paris Bar and Law Society of Singapore, and a Member of the Singapore Advisory Board for the Women's Forum for the Economy and Society (2023–2024). In 2023, she received the 'French of ASEAN Trophy' in the social and humanitarian responsibility category, and in 2024 the 'Trophy for French Established Abroad' in the social responsibility category.
