Gerald Singham

Gerald Singham is the Global Vice-Chair & ASEAN CEO of Dentons and a senior partner in the Corporate practice group, specialising in Competition Law. He has extensive experience advising domestic and multinational clients across a broad range of industries on all aspects of competition law, including merger clearance and notifications, cartel investigations, dawn raids, leniency applications and competition restrictive practices.

Gerald also regularly conducts competition law compliance seminars and audits, and sits on the competition law roundtable of the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS). His broader practice encompasses corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity, foreign direct investments and cross-border transactions. Notable matters include advising Flipkart Private Limited on its US$16 billion acquisition by Walmart (which won multiple Deal of the Year awards), acting for Heineken in its merger control notification to CCCS, and successfully obtaining leniency and penalty reductions for clients in cartel investigations.

Gerald holds an LL.M. (1987) and an LL.B. (Hons) (1985) from the University of London.

He is consistently ranked as a leading individual for Competition/Antitrust by Chambers Asia-Pacific (2010–2026) and recognised by The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific, IFLR1000, Asialaw Leading Lawyers and Best Lawyers. He is also an Acritas Star Lawyer and has been recognised by Global Competition Review as a co-head of a Highly Recommended competition practice. He was awarded the Public Service Star (Bar) in 2019 and serves as Chairman of the National Crime Prevention Council.
