Jamal Siddique

Jamal Siddique is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution Department at Shook Lin & Bok LLP, specialising in dispute resolution, international arbitration, and cross‑border insolvency. His practice has a particular focus on fraud, banking‑related disputes, and international trade disputes.

Jamal has acted for a major international bank in a suit against the founder, family members, and a senior executive of Hin Leong Trading; successfully obtained a mandatory order in judicial review proceedings before the Court of Appeal; and was appointed as amicus curiae by the High Court in a matter concerning resulting and constructive trusts in the context of HDB apartments. In restructuring and insolvency, he acted for SK Engineering in successfully setting aside a scheme of arrangement in a landmark Court of Appeal decision; acted for a major international bank in resisting a moratorium application and obtaining a judicial management order in relation to Zenrock Commodities Trading; and acted for the Resolution Professional of Think and Learn in successfully obtaining recognition as a foreign representative under the Model Law. In international trade, he successfully set aside an ex parte worldwide Mareva injunction for US$280 million against a client, with the decision upheld by the Court of Appeal. He has also acted for a trustee in a SIAC arbitration under a bond issue and obtained a USD 40 million award for an Indian agricultural co‑operative in an arbitration against an Australian joint venture partner.

Jamal holds an LL.B (Hons) with First Class Honours from University College London (2013) and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2015. He was appointed Young Amicus Curiae by the Supreme Court (2018, 2019) and was the recipient of the Singapore Academy of Law Overseas Attachment, attached to Fountain Court Chambers in 2020.

He is recognised as a Future Star in Insolvency by Benchmark Litigation (2026) and recommended in Dispute Resolution and Restructuring and Insolvency by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, where he is described as "highly intelligent, personable and someone you trust to get positive results", "meticulous and excellent", and as a "true star in this practice".
