Jonathan Guwe

Jonathan Guwe is a Senior Partner in Dentons Rodyk's Finance practice group and Co‑Head of the Project Finance, Energy and Infrastructure practices, specialising in Infrastructure Law. He has handled complex cross‑border transactions in emerging markets, successfully seeing multiple projects from inception to commercial operation across hydroelectric, solar, wind, gas and coal‑fired power plants, as well as other infrastructure projects across Asia.

Jonathan has advised on the development of projects from inception, drafting consortium agreements, SPAs, shareholders' agreements, EPC contracts, fuel supply agreements, O&M contracts, PPAs, BOT contracts and related financing documents. Notable transactions include advising a Chinese state‑owned EPC contractor on its US$2.3 billion acquisition of a 45% stake in a Vietnamese coal‑fired thermal power facility, acting for an Indonesian energy company on the purchase of a US$220 million hydro‑electric power plant, and advising a Chinese state‑owned EPC contractor on its US$137 million acquisition of an Indonesian mining group. He also advised the Singapore Government on the development of model legal documents governing the international trading of carbon credits.

Jonathan holds an LL.B. and an LL.M. from the University of Nottingham (2004, 2006).

He is recognised as a Highly Regarded Lawyer for Banking and Project Finance by IFLR1000 and a Recommended Lawyer in Projects and Energy by The Legal 500 Asia‑Pacific.
