Melissa Thng

Melissa Thng is a Senior Partner in Dentons Rodyk's Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Arbitration practice groups, serving as Co-Head of the International Trade practice and Deputy Head of the International Arbitration practice. She specialises in cross-border, trans-national litigation and arbitration, with a particular focus on energy and projects, international trade and commodities, shipping, digital assets and blockchain, aviation and construction.

She regularly appears at all levels of the Singapore Courts and has served as both tribunal and counsel in arbitrations. Notable matters include acting for a major Russian crude oil supplier in a SIAC arbitration with claims in excess of US$116 million; acting in a representative claim in the Singapore International Commercial Court brought by 377 holders of Terra Classic/UST cryptocurrency tokens claiming damages of some US$65 million; acting for the former CEO and Chairman of a Thai listed company in defending allegations of cross-border fraud with claims exceeding USD 180 million; and acting in a dispute over assets worth more than S$200 million after the demise of a patriarch. She also advises on sanctions and regulatory issues, commercial fraud, corporate and shareholder disputes, and estate and family matters.

Melissa holds an LL.B (Second Class Honours – Upper Division) from the London School of Economics (2006) and a Diploma in Singapore Law from the National University of Singapore (2007).

She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), a member of the SIAC Users Council, and has been named one of Asia's 40 under 40 by Asian Legal Business (2023) and one of Singapore's 20 most influential lawyers aged 40 and under by the Singapore Business Review (2019). Clients describe her as "easy to work with, highly reliable, experienced, diligent and practical" with a "very special ability to find creative solutions".
