Soong Jun De

Soong Jun De is a Partner at Shook Lin & Bok LLP, specialising in maritime law, international trade, and commercial dispute resolution. He focuses on shipping and commodities disputes, regularly advising on matters involving shipbuilding, ship sale and purchase, ship management, charterparties, cargo loss and damage, demurrage, despatch, and cargo off-specification claims.

Jun De has acted for The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in relation to enforcement of loan facilities extended to Hin Leong Trading secured by purportedly original bills of lading; for Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) in relation to enforcement of loan facilities extended to Agritrade; for the Hong Kong branch of one of the largest banks in China in the arrest of a vessel for the enforcement of a ship mortgage; for a BVI company in an ICC arbitration against a Chinese trading company involving a dispute over the sale and purchase of bauxite; for a Chinese Ship-Owner in the defence of a misdelivery claim before the Singapore High Court; for a Singapore-based company against a Hong Kong company in a SIAC arbitration involving a multi‑million dollar dispute over a sale and purchase contract for iron pellets; for a Chinese‑based logistics company in a SIAC arbitration against an Indonesian‑based trading company involving a dispute over the sale and purchase of nickel hydroxide; and for an owner of offshore support vessels in successfully obtaining a favourable Award in an SIAC arbitration involving a refund guarantee relating to a Chinese shipbuilding contract.

Jun De holds an LL.B (Hons) from the National University of Singapore (2013) and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2014.
