Sunit Chhabra

Sunit Chhabra is Head of the Firm's Tax Practice, specialising in Tax Law. He advises on income tax, stamp duty and goods and services tax (GST), including tax implications of mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, capital markets transactions and funds, and seeking advance rulings and clearances from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).

He assists corporate and individual clients in responding to IRAS queries, resolving disputes, and representing clients in tax hearings before the Board of Review and appellate courts. He has acted for a major property developer in a property tax dispute before the Court of Appeal, for a major telecommunications operator in an income tax dispute involving S$100 million in 3G spectrum fees, and for DBS in the establishment of its US$10 billion global covered bond programme, securing tax remissions and approvals from the Ministry of Finance and IRAS. He is recognised as a leading tax practitioner in Singapore, ranked Band 1 since 2010 by Chambers Asia-Pacific.

Sunit holds an LL.M. and LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2001. He joined the Firm as a Partner in 2006.
