Tan Zhi Ming

Tan Zhi Ming is a Partner in the Banking & Finance practice at Shook Lin & Bok LLP, specialising in banking and finance law. He acts for financial institutions and corporate borrowers across a broad range of local and cross‑border transactions, with particular proficiency in property development finance, acquisition finance, project finance, trade finance, and asset‑backed finance. His practice also involves extensive work with security documentation, including mortgages, debentures, charges, assignments, guarantees, and security sharing deeds.

He has acted for lenders in the S$375 million acquisition of Kinex mall in Tanjong Katong, and for a financial institution in relation to the project financing of a turn‑key cogeneration power plant in Indonesia. He acted for Malayan Banking Berhad, Singapore Branch in the financing of Woh Seng Holdings Pte Ltd’s acquisition of shares in Cheung Woh Technologies Ltd, and advised on banking facilities for a joint venture borrower involving the first integrated foreign worker accommodation and training centre in Singapore. He also acted for a financial institution in its capacity as lender, agent and security agent in relation to S$500 million facilities granted for the acquisition and redevelopment of a commercial and retail property in Singapore’s prime shopping belt. Many of his transactions involve cross‑border arrangements with assets in Indonesia and Malaysia.

He holds an LL.B (Hons) from the National University of Singapore (2010) and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of Singapore in 2011. He is fluent in English and Mandarin. He is recognised as a Ranked Individual in Banking and Finance by IFLR1000 (2024‑2025) and a Recommended Individual in Banking and Finance by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific (2022‑2025).
