Valerie Ong

Valerie Ong is a Senior Partner in the Singapore Corporate practice group and co-head of the Singapore Capital Markets practice, specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions. Her portfolio covers M&A and Capital Markets, with decades of cross-border experience representing clients in significant deals across Asia.

Valerie has advised on numerous landmark transactions, including representing Thomson Medical Group in the largest healthcare acquisition in Southeast Asia—the S$517.1 million purchase of Vietnam's FV Hospital—and acting for PETRONAS in its acquisition of M+, one of India's largest rooftop solar power producers. She also advised CapitaLand Limited on its investment in the RMB 21.1 billion (S$4.1 billion) landmark mixed development project in Chongqing, China. Her extensive corporate real estate experience includes representing funds and developers in some of Singapore's largest property transactions, including the S$1.28 billion sale of One George Street and the S$2.2 billion acquisition of Jurong Point. In debt capital markets, she has established multicurrency medium term note programmes for listed companies and advised on multiple bond issuances. She also has deep experience in restructuring and insolvency, having acted for SGX-listed Pacific Radiance Ltd on its US$200+ million debt restructuring.

Valerie holds an LL.M. with Distinction from the London School of Economics (1991) and an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore (1987).

She has been recognised as a Leading Individual for Corporate/M&A by Chambers Asia Pacific and Chambers Global (2013–2026), as a Highly Regarded Lawyer by IFLR1000 for Mergers and Acquisitions (2011–2026), and as a Distinguished Practitioner in Capital Markets by Asialaw (2025).
