Jonathan Yap

Jonathan Yap is a Director in the Dispute Resolution practice at Drew & Napier, specializing in Dispute Resolution. He has acted for clients in a wide variety of disputes, including issues pertaining to shareholders' rights, banking and securities, commercial contracts, shipping, trusts, tort, and joint ventures.

Jonathan is a former Justices' Law Clerk and Assistant Registrar of the Supreme Court of Singapore. Notable matters include acting for an international bank in relation to a potential commodities fraud valued at over US$300 million; acting for the subsidiary of a listed group in relation to $20 million in claims under framework contracts for oil trading, charter hire, and waste disposal plant operations; acting for the beneficiary of a multi‑billion dollar estate in respect of claims brought by other beneficiaries and former business partners of the deceased; acting for an established international airline in a dispute over aircraft handling services litigated concurrently in Singapore and Australia; and advising the private entity within a public‑private partnership of a major integrated facility in Singapore on regulatory compliance, commercial contract renegotiation, and stakeholder management.

Jonathan holds a B.A. (Juris) from the University of Oxford, graduating with First Class honours amongst the top of his course, and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2015.
