Lim Chong Ying

Lim Chong Ying is a Partner at Allen & Gledhill, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and corporate restructuring. She has extensive experience acting for both buyers and sellers in M&A transactions across various industries, including the insurance sector, and has been involved in many schemes of transfers of insurance business.

Chong Ying has advised Guthrie and Lee Kim Tah Holdings on the S$2.2 billion divestment of Jurong Point mall to Mercatus Co‑operative; Singapore Press Holdings on a joint venture with Kajima Development and their S$1.132 billion successful tender for a mixed commercial and residential site; and Prudential Singapore on its acquisition of UOB Life Assurance for approximately S$428 million, the setting up of bancassurance arrangements with United Overseas Bank and its subsidiaries in Thailand and Indonesia, and the subsequent integration of the insurance business of UOB Life Assurance with that of Prudential Assurance Company Singapore. She also regularly advises on and negotiates joint venture agreements and frequently acts for management in their reinvestment arrangements in management buyouts, as well as providing restructuring and general corporate law advice to companies and co‑operative societies across a broad spectrum of industries.

Chong Ying holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2002. She joined the firm in 2002 and has been a Partner since 2008.
