Ron Oong

Ron Oong is a Partner in Dentons Rodyk's Projects and Energy and Banking and Finance groups, and Co-Head of the firm's Infrastructure and Project Finance practice. He focuses on banking and finance, energy, mining, infrastructure (including data centres), project finance, restructuring, M&A and direct investment transactions.

He has handled numerous complex cross-border transactions involving Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Japan, Korea, Australia and China. Notable matters include acting for an India-based renewables developer on the project financing of an over 500MW hybrid wind and solar project, advising on the development and financing of a 50MW solar park in Bangladesh, and negotiating the US$1 billion+ EPC contract for a 4 x 127.5MW hydropower plant in Indonesia. He has also acted for Chinese state-owned companies on wind power projects in Vietnam and a coal-fired thermal power facility, and advised on the development of large-scale data centres in Malaysia for global technology conglomerates, including energy and utility procurement. His energy practice covers electricity retail agreements, virtual power purchase agreements, LNG sale and purchase agreements, and commodity repurchase transactions.

Ron holds an LL.B and is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. He is a member of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law.

He is recognised as a Next Generation Partner for Projects and Energy by The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific and a Notable Practitioner for Infrastructure by Asialaw, and was named one of Singapore's Most Notable Lawyers under 40 by Singapore Business Review in 2025.
