TAN Shao Tong

Tan Shao Tong is the Head of the Tax Practice, specialising in tax law, with expertise in income tax, goods and services tax, stamp duty, and property tax. He advises clients on complex tax matters, including tax litigation, judicial reviews, and regulatory compliance.

He has been involved in significant cases including Comptroller of Income Tax v BBO (on tax treatment of investment gains by insurance companies), ATG v The Comptroller of Income Tax (on disallowance of capital allowances claims), Comptroller of Income Tax v ACC (on judicial review relating to withholding tax on interest rate swaps), ZF v Comptroller of Income Tax (on demountable dormitories and capital allowances), and ABB v Comptroller of Income Tax (on taxation of stock options granted to an employee's estate). His practice spans tax litigation, advisory work, and dispute resolution across a wide range of tax-related matters.

He holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the National University of Singapore and is admitted to the Singapore Bar. He is an Accredited Tax Advisor with the Singapore Chartered Tax Professionals and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
