Kelvin SEET Wan Nam

Kelvin Seet is a Senior Partner in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group at Cheang & Ariff, specialising in corporate and commercial litigation, restructuring and insolvency, professional negligence (relating to auditors), and capital markets and securities law. He has appeared before every level of the Malaysian courts in complex and high‑value litigation over more than two decades of practice.

He has acted in a wide range of disputes, including shareholder and director actions, derivative suits, oppression claims, joint venture and corporate fraud cases, as well as insolvency and restructuring proceedings. He regularly represents clients in regulatory enforcement actions brought by the Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia. He has successfully defended one of the Big Four accounting firms in a negligence suit brought by investors and represented Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in enforcement proceedings against a listed company. He has also acted in significant insolvency‑related litigation clarifying the scope of essential supplies under the Companies Act 2016. He is a contributing author of The Annotated Malaysian Companies Act 2016 (Sweet & Maxwell Asia, Thomson Reuters Malaysia).

He holds an LL.B. from Staffordshire University, United Kingdom and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar. He is recognised by The Legal 500 Asia‑Pacific as a “safe pair of hands, with good insight and an imaginative approach to problem‑solving,” and clients commend him for his meticulous preparation, depth of technical knowledge, and strategic judgment.
